Biological Services
Company Profile:
Biological Services commenced operations in 1971, in South Australia, to breed Aphytis melinus for control of Red Scale in Citrus, in the southern districts of Australia.
We are now involved in many high value horticultural crops offering 27 different biocontrol agents for pests such as whitefly, thrips, mites, aphids, fungus gnats, scales and caterpillars. The rearing of the beneficials occurs onsite at the Loxton and Muchea insectaries under the watchful eye of company directors, James Altmann and Lachlan Chilman.
Biological Services also employ 12 fully trained IPM consultants who are available for IPM advice, monitoring, property visits, and technical backup around the country to ensure pest issues are dealt with quickly and professionally.
For commercial growers in the horticultural industry tailored IPM programs can be established to assist in control of a wide range of pests allowing substantial reductions in the use of broad-spectrum pesticides.
